About Us

Westman New World Shotokan is proud to uphold a rich martial arts tradition rooted in authentic Japanse Shotokan Karate. Our lineage begins with Master Yutaka Yaguchi and Master Teruyuki Okazaki, direct students of Gichin Funakoshi, the founder of Shotokan Karate. Their teachings were then passed on to Sensei Phillip Dingman through Sensei Jerry Marr.

Scott Flannigan trained extensively under both Sensei Dingman and Sensei Jerry Marr, and obtained all of his Dan levels through Yondan under Sensei Yaguchi. He obtained his Godan level under Sensei John Barnett, and continues to uphold the same levels of excellence and tradition that has been experienced in his dojos for the last 40 years.
